Philip was one of the twelve apostles, from Bethsaida like Peter and Andrew, and it was Philip who found Nathanael and brought him to Jesus. He appears at a few pointed moments in John's Gospel, questioned by Jesus about how to feed the crowd before the feeding of the five thousand, and later asking Jesus to simply show the disciples the Father, prompting Jesus's reply that whoever has seen him has seen the Father. A different Philip, one of seven men chosen to oversee food distribution in the early Jerusalem church, became a traveling evangelist and personally led the Ethiopian eunuch to faith on a desert road.
