Phrygia was a large region in the interior of Asia Minor, home to cities such as Colossae, Hierapolis, Laodicea, and Iconium. Jews from Phrygia were present in Jerusalem at Pentecost (Acts 2:10), and Paul passed through the region on both his second and third missionary journeys, strengthening the churches there (Acts 16:6; 18:23). By Roman times it was divided administratively between the provinces of Asia and Galatia.
