Resen was one of the cities Nimrod is said to have built in Assyria, located between the great cities of Nineveh and Calah (Gen. 10:12). Some read the verse as implying that these separate settlements eventually grew together into the larger city later known simply as Nineveh, though Resen's precise site has not been identified.
