Isaiah's son, whose name was a message, a remnant shall return, and Isaiah took the boy with him when he went out to meet King Ahaz.
Shear-jashub, meaning "a remnant shall return," was the symbolic name Isaiah gave to his son, whom the prophet brought along when he confronted King Ahaz of Judah with a message of assurance during the Syro-Ephraimite crisis (Isaiah 7:3). The name itself functioned as a walking prophecy, promising that even after judgment a remnant of Israel would survive and return to God.
