Who this is

Sheshach was not a person but a coded name for Babylon, formed by substituting each Hebrew letter with its counterpart counted from the opposite end of the alphabet, a cipher called atbash. Jeremiah used the name in oracles against Babylon, and its parallel with "Babylon" in the surrounding verses confirms the identification (Jeremiah 25:26; 51:41).
