Shilhim was a town in the southern territory of Judah near the border with Simeon (Joshua 15:32), generally identified with Sharuhen in the parallel list at Joshua 19:6. Sharuhen appears in Egyptian sources as the fortress where the Hyksos made their last stand after being driven from Egypt, besieged for three years by Pharaoh Ahmose according to the tomb inscription of his officer Ahmose son of Ebana, one of the clearer points of contact between the biblical Negev towns and independently dated Egyptian history.
