Who this is

Two women named Tamar stand out in the Old Testament. Judah's daughter-in-law Tamar was widowed twice without bearing an heir and, when Judah failed to give her his third son as custom required, disguised herself as a prostitute and conceived twins by Judah himself, a scheme Judah eventually admitted was more righteous than his own failure to provide for her. A different Tamar was David's daughter, raped by her own half-brother Amnon, an assault that went unpunished by David and led directly to Amnon's murder by Tamar's full brother Absalom.
