Who this is

Tophet was a site in the Valley of Hinnom outside Jerusalem where children were burned as sacrifices to the god Molech, a practice Josiah defiled and abolished during his reforms. Jeremiah repeatedly condemns Tophet and warns that the valley would itself become a place of slaughter and burial in judgment. Its grim associations with fire and destruction contributed to later Jewish imagery of Gehenna as a place of punishment.
