Zadok (High Priest living at the time of United Monarchy)

First, in plain English

The priest who stayed with David through Absalom's rebellion. He would have carried the ark out with the king, and David sent it back. Zadok anointed Solomon, and when Abiathar backed Adonijah and was sent away, Zadok was left as the only high priest.

Who this is

Zadok was a priest who remained loyal to David throughout Absalom's rebellion, even offering to keep the Ark of the Covenant with the fleeing king before David sent it back to Jerusalem, trusting God rather than a sacred object to protect him. Zadok anointed Solomon king and became Israel's sole high priest after Solomon exiled the rival priest Abiathar for backing Adonijah's failed coup, and Zadok's descendants controlled the high priesthood for centuries afterward.
