Zamzummim (People, perhaps from Repha)

They were a big people and a numerous one, holding the land east of the Jordan before the Ammonites. Moses says the Lord destroyed them so Ammon could settle there, the way he cleared land for Israel. Some think they are the Zuzim of Genesis 14.

Who this is

The Zamzummim were a people of great size and numbers whom the Lord destroyed before the Ammonites so that Ammon could settle their territory east of the Jordan, an episode Moses recalls as evidence that God had cleared land for other nations besides Israel (Deuteronomy 2:20-21). Some identify them with the Zuzim, a similarly obscure people defeated earlier by the coalition of eastern kings in Genesis 14.
