Who this is
Zara is the form used in Matthew's genealogy of Jesus (Matthew 1:3) for Zerah, the twin brother of Perez born to Judah and Tamar (Genesis 38:27-30). Matthew lists him only to mark the line continuing through his brother Perez, since Zerah himself is not an ancestor of Jesus.
