Zedekiah (King living at the time of Divided Monarchy)

Zedekiah was the last king of Judah, installed by Nebuchadnezzar after deporting his predecessor, and his reign ended in disaster when he rebelled against Babylon despite Jeremiah's repeated warnings not to. Nebuchadnezzar besieged and destroyed Jerusalem in response, captured Zedekiah trying to flee, executed his sons in front of him, and then blinded him, making the massacre of his sons the last thing he ever saw. A few minor figures elsewhere in the Old Testament, including a false prophet who opposed Jeremiah, also carried the name.
