Zephaniah (Man living at the time of Divided Monarchy)
A priest, not the prophet of the book. Jeremiah's verses show him carrying messages between the king and Jeremiah, and 2 Kings 25:18 counts him among those taken when Jerusalem fell.

Zephaniah prophesied during King Josiah's reign, warning of a coming day of the Lord that would bring judgment not just on Judah's idolatry but on the surrounding nations as well, before the book ends with an unexpected turn toward restoration and God rejoicing over his people with singing. His genealogy is traced back four generations in the opening verse, possibly to identify him as a great-great-grandson of King Hezekiah.
