Daniel 7:9-14

Daniel 7:9-14, in every translation this tool compares.

First, in plain English

The real question: who fills the other thrones, and does a second enthroned figure split God into two? A courtroom has a judge's bench and a jury box. Seeing “thrones were set in place” (plural) with only one figure named is like walking in and finding the jury box built before anyone tells you who's sitting there. The seats being there is the point, even before the names are given. This card reads the extra thrones as filled and the second enthroned figure as a real co-ruler, not a rival god.

The problem

Thrones is plural and the text never says who fills the others. A second figure then receives dominion that belongs to God alone.

What this reading resolves

A seated court with a second enthroned figure accounts for the plural, the books, and the transfer of dominion without splitting God in two.

What it still does not

The identity of the other thrones is left open here and the index does not close it.

Second Temple witness

1 Enoch 37-71, the Book of Parables

The Parables develop this Son of Man into a pre-existent enthroned figure. Dating is disputed and no fragment of this section turned up at Qumran, so it carries less weight than the Watchers material.
