Isaiah 6:1-8
The throne room, the seraphim, and the plural question, who will go for us.
Isaiah 6:1-8, in every translation this tool compares.
The real question: is this writer overhearing an actual conversation already in progress, or is “us” just a royal way of saying “me”? Walk into a meeting already running and someone asks the room, “Who's going to take this one?” You don't have to ask who else is there. The question itself tells you the room isn't empty. This vision reads the same way: a real council, mid-session, that Isaiah has just stepped into.
Who is the us. The question is addressed to someone, and Isaiah answers as though he has stepped into a conversation already running.
A session in progress explains the plural, the cleansing before he may speak, and the fact that he volunteers rather than being commanded.
It never says who exactly the plural “us” includes, and it does not explain why a human being can volunteer for the kind of council errand that, in Job or 1 Kings 22, is carried out by non-human members only. Isaiah's own status in that room is left unaddressed.
