Nibiru (Planet X) is a hidden planet that appears every 3,600 years and will bring global catastrophe.
No Sumerian or Babylonian text describes a doomsday planet on a 3,600-year orbit; Michael Heiser checked every occurrence of the word himself.
Sitchin's Nibiru (a hidden planet on a 3,600-year orbit, due to bring catastrophe on its next pass) has no cuneiform basis. Michael Heiser read every known ancient Near Eastern text containing the word "Nibiru," drawing on the work of Assyriologist Benno Landsberger, and found it used only four ways: as the planet Jupiter, the planet Mercury, the god Marduk, or a star, never a rogue planet, and never tied to any countdown or catastrophe.
Ancient Mesopotamian skywatchers, whose observational records survive in detail, also recorded Nibiru appearing yearly rather than once every 3,600 years, which alone rules out Sitchin's proposed orbital cycle. The claim has been rejected by every working Sumerologist and Assyriologist who has addressed it publicly.
